1. The FDA calls for less salt in processed foods
2. The FDA wants the food industry to cut back on the salt. The FDA’s aim is to reduce the risk of high blood pressure, heart disease and stroke among Americans, according to the FDA.
3. Not only is the FDA is involved but also Dr. Tom Frieden, director of the U.S. Centers and Disease Control and Prevention, Susan Mayne, director of the FDA's Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition, and American Heart Association CEO Nancy Brown.
4. They issued draft guidelines that would set voluntary targets for an array of foods, an effort to help consumers decrease salt intake from an average 3,400 milligrams a day now to 3,000 mg in two years and 2,300 mg in a decade.

6. This event doesn’t really relate to me but someone I knew was having serious heart problems. He was really fat and would eat a lot. For a while he was coughing up blood and he decided to go to a doctor. They have him medicine and after a long while he decided to get off it because it was really bad and he wanted to try something else. So awhile he tried going vegan to get rid of his problem and it worked. He decided to go vegan so he won’t have to deal with that anymore

Wellness Specialist

Reflection: No I don’t want to become one. I don’t want to work in anything health related.

Reflection: No I don’t want to become one because I don’t want to work medicine related jobs.

Reflection: I don’t want to have this job. I don’t want to work a job involving therapy.

Reflection: No I don’t want to become one. I don’t want to work in medicine

Registered Nurse

Duties and Responsibilities: Perform physical exams and health histories.Provide health promotion, counseling and education.

Education Requirements: They need an Associate's degree

Demand for this profession: 16% (Much faster than average)

Reflection: I do not want to become a registered nurse. They only need to have one degree so I that is one thing that’s great about this job. I don’t want to work in medicine.

Recreation Therapist

Duties and Responsibilities: Their goal is to help patients adjust to life with a disease, injury or disability.

Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in therapeutic recreation or recreation with a therapeutic concentration

Demand: 12% (Faster than average)

Reflection: I decided not to become a recreation therapist. I have not decided to work in medicine. Also I am not very good at helping people with serious problems.

Education Requirements:Doctor of medicine/osteopathy degree from an accredited U.S. school.Eligibility for board certification. Completion of at least one year of an approved graduate medical education internship.Completion of a training program in emergency medicine.

Demand for this career: Researched, but I found no demand

Reflection: No I don’t want to become a Emergency Physician. I don’t to work in medicine.

Radiologic Technologist

Duties and Responsibilities  They are in charge of administering diagnostic imaging exams, such as x-rays and CT scans.

Salary/Total Pay: $34,510 - $63,939

Education Requirements: They need an Associate's degree

Demand for this profession:There will be a growth of about 9 percent between 2014 and 2024 for this profession, and 17,200 new positions will need to be filled.

Reflection: Personally I don’t want to become a Radiologic Technologist. The job sounds pretty easy.

Mental Health Counselor

Duties and Responsibilities: Work with individuals and groups to promote optimum mental health. They may help individuals deal with addictions and drug abuse.

Education Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Counseling,Master's Degree in Counseling,Doctorate in Counseling

Demand for this profession: Employment of mental health counselors and marriage and family therapists is projected to grow 19 percent from 2014 to 2024

    

Reflection: I don’t want to become a mental health counselor. I am not planning to work in a job involving medicine. One of the reason I don’t want to work in this job is because I am not very talkative

                                           Psychologist

Duties and Responsibilities: They study the human mind. Their research helps us understand behavior, memory and mental health disorders.

Salary: Their total pay is $42,231 - $127,482

Education: All Psychologists need Doctoral degrees who work directly with patients and Master’s degree will be enough for some positions.

Demand for this profession: The overall employment of psychologists is expected to grow by 22 percent from 2010 to 2020.

Reflection: No I don't want to become a Psychologist. I never want to do something health related.

            Psychiatrist

Duties and Responsibilities: Physicians who diagnose, treat, and help prevent disorders of the mind.

Salary: $100,387 - $273,020       

Education: Earn a Bachelor's Degree; you'll need to take undergraduate courses in biology, chemistry, math and physics to meet medical school admissions requirements. Then you will need to pursue a Medical Degree, complete a Residency, obtain a License, and become Board Certified.

Demand for this profession: Psychiatrists rose only by 12 percent from 1995 over 19 years. During these years, the nation's population increased by 37 percent, so that means that M.D. supply overall outpaced population growth, but not for psychiatrists.

Reflection: No I do not want to become a psychiatrist. The job has a pretty nice salary. The education requirements are pretty hard to obtain. The world is in need for more psychiatrists but it’s not something I want to do.

                                      Nursing Home Administrator

Duties and Responsibilities: Some common duties of nursing home administrators include overseeing staff and personnel, financial matters, medical care, medical supplies, facilities, and other duties as specific positions demand.

Education A bachelor's degree and most hold master's degrees in health administration or other relevant fields.

Reflection:  No I don’t think I would become one. I don’t want to work any medical related job. This job looks like it has pretty annoying duties. But one good thing about this job is that all you need is a bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration. 

Volunteer Opportunities

On this website I found there is some volunteer work called “No one should die alone”. In this opportunity volunteers will be assigned a patient that is nearing death so they can help them get through it. This one is called “Yum Yum!” where you interview hospital patient satisfaction and then you inform them about healthy choices.                                              Neonatologist

Duties and Responsibilities: a special type of pediatrics that consists of the medical care of newborn infants, especially the ill or premature newborn infant

Salary: $194,149-$277,437

Education: Bachelor’s Degree, Medical School, Pediatric Residency, Fellowship Training, and this can take up to 14 years.

Reflection: I don’t think I would like to become a Neonatologist. Some of the reasons is that sometimes you have to deal with babies with a serious illness and it may be hard for you to see. Another reason to become a Neonatologist will take a very long time.

                                                                 Orthodontist

Duties and Responsibilities: An Orthodontist can use braces and retainers to prevent future dental problems for patients, straighten their teeth and correct bite issues.

Education Requirements: four years of college, four years of dental school and two to three years of post-graduate orthodontics training, as well as extensive written and clinical certification and licensing exams.

Reflection: I would not like to become a Orthodontist. Even though it pays well, the education requirement seems hard to do. Also I don’t want to work in a job were I have to mess around with someone’s teeth.

Oncologist

Duties and responsibilities: they are physicians trained in a variety of cancer diagnostic and treatment procedures, such as chemotherapy and radiation therapy.

Education requirements: completion of a bachelor's degree program, particularly one that includes coursework in the biological and chemical sciences, is the first step in becoming an oncologist.

Reflection: I don’t think I want to become a oncologist. I think I won’t do well in duties of a oncologist. I think the education requirements seem hard to get.

Reflection: I think I don’t want to become a health science librarian. I don’t think I’ll do well in the duties of a health science librarian. The education requirement seems hard to obtain. I think the salary isn’t good enough.

Education requirements: Health educators need a bachelor’s degree. A lot of  employers require the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) credential. Requirements for community health workers vary, although sometimes they need a high school diploma and must complete a brief period of on-the-job training. Some states have certification programs for community health workers.

Reflection: I don’t think I will ever be a health educator. I don’ think I will do a good job at the duties of a health educator. The education requirement seems kind of hard to obtain.
